Quote jparker Replybullet Topic: Multi Line Exception
    Posted: 12 May 2010 at 11:06pm
Is there a way that I can have a multi line exception in ProForm and when exported to MS Word and not have it appear as is each line is an exception?

i.e.
ProForm Exception Text Reads:
  Parcel No.
  Brief Description

MS Word text Reads:
  1. Parcel No.
  2. Brief Description

I want MS Word Text to Read:
  1. Parcel No.
      Brief Description

I know this is happening because I am using Paragraph Numbering in word to number the exceptions but I do not know of another way to do it. I considered doing text boxes with if statements but that only cures the limitation by adding two more.

I have even tried looking for the 'Shift+Enter" ASCI code to use in ProForm and I thought I found it but ProForm gives me the error noise when I try it.

Any help is appreciated and if you have a way that this works and would be willing to email the template to me I would provide my email address.

Thank you.

Just put both items in one exception.
Ex:
PIDLEG    Parcel No. {{PARCELID}}
Brief Description: {{BLEGAL1}} (or whatever field you want to use)

Also, I do believe you can use ASCII codes in exceptions but use the ALT-### code instead.

This is an exception for the taxes. We include the parcel no., brief legal, taxable & true valuations, taxes per half, special assessments, what taxes are paid, what is payable (if any) and what is a lien but not payable as well as a disclaimer that we are not responsible for tax increases.

This may be over kill but the lets up skip completing a separate  tax and legal for the lenders. (We also include date and instrument for the owner's deed on schedule a of the vested in to give the 12/24 month chain of title, in most cases)

I am at home at the moment but when I get to the office in 30 mins or so I will post exactly what we type, how it looks in ProForm and how it merges to Word.

Here is what we type into ProForm:

01-0000340.000, R5 T11 S28 NE Qtr 1.11A & 1.423A
Taxable Valuation: Land 3,670.00; Bldgs 110.00; Total 3,780.00
True Valuation: Land 10,490.00; Bldgs 310.00; Total 10,800.00
Taxes per half are $63.70
Special Assessment of $6.00 per half (MWCD Assessment)
Taxes and Special Assessments for the year of 2009 are paid; Taxes and Special Assessments for the year of 2010 and thereafter are lien on said premises but are not yet due and available for payment.
No liability is assumed for tax increases occasioned by retroactive revaluation change in land usage, or loss of any homestead exemption statues for insured premises.

This is how it merges to Word:
8. 01-0000340.000, R5 T11 S28 NE Qtr 1.11A & 1.423A
9. Taxable Valuation: Land 3,670.00; Bldgs 110.00; Total 3,780.00
10. True Valuation: Land 10,490.00; Bldgs 310.00; Total 10,800.00
11. Taxes per half are $63.70
12. Special Assessment of $6.00 per half (MWCD Assessment)
13. Taxes and Special Assessments for the year of 2009 are paid; Taxes and Special Assessments for the year of 2010 and thereafter are lien on said premises but are not yet due and available for payment.
14. No liability is assumed for tax increases occasioned by retroactive revaluation change in land usage, or loss of any homestead exemption statues for insured premises.

I am typing all of this into one field general "EX08TEXT".

I use a very simular format.  Just for kicks, try this.  In Proform after you type each line, rather then hit enter,  hold down the shift key while hitting enter.  This should act as a line feed rather then an enter or New paragraph.  Do that for each line, then merge again and let us know if that works.

It is as if ProForm does not allow a line feed. I have even tried "ALT+011" which works in Word but only beeps an error sound in ProForm.

I can do something like: 01-0000340.000, R5 T11 S28 NE Qtr 1.11A & 1.423A <> Taxable Valuation: Land 3,670.00; Bldgs 110.00; Total 3,780.00 <> True Valuation: Land 10,490.00; Bldgs 310.00; Total 10,800.00 <> Taxes per half are $63.70

But it just looks so complex and is not easy to read.

The problem is not ProForm itself,  It is that during wordmerge, Word just sees the blank line and doesnt know that the next line doesnt start a new paragraph.

I do much of my specific word formatting after the merge has completed.  If this is something you do ofter, you may want to use a delimiter character like a pipe (|) (above the \ character) to seperate lines in ProForm, then write a quick macro in word to search the entire document and replace | with a line feed.  The only problem there is that if you produce exceptions or requirements in ReadyDocs,  they become really ugly...

Just a thought.
