ProDesign : Using UserPrompts in Expressions

    Author: jparker
Subject: Using UserPrompts in Expressions
Posted: 04 September 2010 at 11:58pm

I know this topic is old but I thought I would add to it.

We recently ran into the same problem with expressions described here. I had to use a SoftPro Prompt to get my expression to work, however, I created my own prompt to use. I opened up the SoftPro Prompt txt file and at the end added _USR0001 with the the information I wanted (using _USR#### means I never use a code that SoftPro may use in the future). Since every time SoftPro updates there prompt file this will be removed I created a second txt file naming it User Prompts (name does not matter but this is easy for me to remember what they are) and copied and pasted my custom prompts into my new file. Now when SoftPro updates their prompts I simply open my User Prompts file and copy and paste them at the end of SoftPro's file.

I took this a small step further. It annoys me that the usrprompts file gets rearranged, so, I have a copy of my usrprompts in my User Prompts file. Now when I need to adjust a prompt or add to the list I have my nice numerical order list to work with.
I would appreciate any input from folks who have experience with the Standard vs the Enterprise version. We were sold the Enterprise version and we think we would be better served if we had the Standard version. Everyone we have talked to who have Softpro have the Standard version and love it. We find the Enterprise version to be cumbersome. When we compare the steps we have to go through to print checks, make changes etc., with what the Standard users do, we have more steps involved. We are really struggling with the Enterprise version and wonder if we should be using the Standard version instead.

I would appreciate and and all comments.

We missed you at UsersGroup!

The issue of the Ohio Conveyance Fee has been a hot topic at OLTA. The consensus is that the 50 cents per parcel is a transfer fee payable by the seller. This is according to Ohio law O.R.C. § 319.54 (G) whcih states:

The county auditor shall charge
and receive fees as follows:

(2) For the transfer or entry of land, lot, or part of lot,
or the transfer or entry on or after January 1, 2000,
of a used manufactured home or mobile home as de-
fined in section 5739.0210 of the Revised Code, fifty
cents for each transfer or entry, to be paid by the per-
son requiring it;

(3) For receiving statements of value and administer-
ing section 319.202 of the Revised Code, one dollar,
or ten cents for each one hundred dollars or fraction
of one hundred dollars, whichever is greater, of the
value of the real property transferred or, for sales oc-
curring on or after January 1, 2000, the value of the
used manufactured home or used mobile home, as de-
fined in section 5739.0210 of the Revised Code, trans-
ferred, except no fee shall be charged when the trans-
fer is made.

Therefore it is to be rolled into line 1203. Scott Stevenson wrote an interesting article on this topic in Title Topic and can be read in full at OLTA.org.

Liz

What I mean is, as their consultant, I can say what I want around this particular topic, and they are not going to use my opinion for much.

I don't believe there's any reason you can't put it on 1206, and have that roll into 1203 for GFE line 8. Of course IANAL. (I am not a lawyer)

DanV
Dayton, Ohio
